Lej Mewded

ETHIOPIA, ADDIS ABABA

Artist Mewded Dagnachew was born in 1993 in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia and received a diploma in Fine Art from Entoto Technical and Vocational Educational Training College in Addis Ababa. Equipped with courses in various art disciplines over three years he graduated in 2014 from in painting. Mewded is a full time Studio Artist whose art has been exhibited in several shows over the past few years.

“As an Artist, I work hard to develop paintings that speak both to me and to others about the beauty that exists in the ruins of societies. Part of my process, before I begin painting, is to read as much as I can about the specific set of ruins I am about to capture with my brushes. With careful, colorful strokes, I want to give that society life once more. I try with every finished work to breathe life in to long forgotten culture so that its designs, ideas and life style are displayed on my canvas. My art work speaks, not only for me, but for people who were long ago silenced.”

“ Bought an art piece from Sensul and it lit up my home. My husband and kids are loving the new art. I’m definitely going to buy more art from them.”
