Leayne Tilahun

ETHIOPIA, ADDIS ABABA

was born in Dessie, Ethiopia in 1988 and currently lives and works in Addis Ababa. After receiving his BFA from Addis Ababa University 2012, specializing in Painting, he participated in several exhibitions including the prestigious National Annual Art Showcase Art of Ethiopia; Ethiopian National Museum; DinQ Gallery; Galleria TOMOKA Guramayne Art Centre; and Alliance Ethiopie Française. Recent body of work depict Layne’s wide ranging perceptual and spiritual experiences amongst his fellow men, and, invariably, his participation therein.

“This matrix of subjectivity starkly depicts the state of our contemporary soul. Brushstroke with hue and hue with texture, work in tandem to invoke a most subtle and yet believable portrayal of the current zeitgeist. My artistic expression, permeated by romanticism, envelops the gaze in a sensory feast…masterfully weaving threads of emotion and perception, inviting all to engage in my work. My paintings transport us to a realm where the boundaries of time and space blur, allowing us to explore the complexities of presence, and the dynamic world attending it.”
